DIVING IN DERAWAN AND BORNEO LIMESTONE FOREST & WILDLIFE TOUR
Tour Duration 20 Days / 19 Nights
Day 01: Medan – Balikpapan – Berau – Tanjung Batu- Derawan Dive Lodge
Fly with Lion Air JT 211 at 0545-0810 from Medan Jakarta then continue with JT 756 at 11.55 – 1500 from Jakarta to Balikpapan then by IW 1360 1715-1835 from Balikpapan to Berau. Upon arrival at the airport in Berau the driver will await you to bring you to Tanjung Batu, through Kalimantans beautiful landscape (2h). At Tanjung Batu our speedboat will pick you up to whisk you 30 minutes accross the sea to the island. Here you will pull up directly onto the lodge beach(Derawan Dive Lodge), getting your feet wet for the first time and being welcomed with big smiles and a cold drink.

Day 07: Derawan - BERAU (B,D)
Transfer by boat from the Lodge to Tanjung Batu. Upon arrival at Tanjung Batu harbor, meeting service and transfer to Hotel for check in, possibility for sightseeing tour (upon flight schedule), evening dinner at local restaurant
Day 08: BERAU, MERABU (BLD)
Breakfast at Hotel, preparation for our adventure trip, check out of Hotel, and drive for about four hours over a bouncing unpaved road into the dark Jungle of Borneo, before we head into a muddy path for about one hour drive time towards Merabu Dayak village, to end up at one of the side rivesr of the Longgi river, if the water level is low we can cross the river by car, otherwise we will leave the jeep and cross the river by canoe to Merabu village which is a small settlement of about 200 people of the Dayak Lebo tribe, which will host us for the night at one of their local houses, Evening a Dance ceremony could be held, Lunch on the way, dinner at local house at Merabu.
Day 09: MERABU, KARST CAVE BELOYOT (BLD)
Simple breakfast by our local host will be prepared, before we start our trek of about 3 hours, from the village Merabu located at the foot of one of the world largest and untouched limestone forest into the Karst Mountains to the Beloyot limestone crop, which have several caves, with a historic human manuscripts of 3000 year old, beside unknown fossils, human sculpts, and lakes can be found in the several caves of Beloyot Limestone crop, Lunch and dinner will be prepared en route, overnight at Cave.
Day 10: BELOYOT, NYADENG LAKE (BLD)
Simple breakfast at Cave, before we continue trekking to Nyadeng for about two to three hours through untouched limestone forest, possibility to spot wildlife mammals as several monkey species, birds and lizard during the trek. Once arrived at Nyadeng you can enjoy the bright watershed lake of the Karst limestone mountains, at your feet as a mirror to your face, from the lake we continue to the Poyong Crop, which hold a dry Cave at about 300 meters above sea level, which give us a nice view over the limestone forest, possibility to overnight at the Cave or continue by Canoe to Merabu village to overnight at Local house, meals prepared en route.
Day 11: MERABU, LESAN DAYAK (BLD)
Simple breakfast at Cave or Local house, before we continue by jeep over a muddy path passing the primary forest for a bit more then a hour to the Lesan River, where we board motor-canoe to cruise upstream for about one hour to the village Lesan Dayak. Upon arrival meet with the locals which will host us for the Night, the afternoon we can explore the protected primary forest of Lesan, to search for orangutans and other wildlife creatures of Borneo, climb the tree top tower for an magnificent view over the emerald jungle of Kalimantan, before return to village, for overnight at local house, Lunch and dinner at Lesan Dayak village
Day 12: LESAN DAYAK, LESAN RIVER (BLD)
Simple breakfast at Local house, a forest trek for wildlife and orangutans, afterwards we will cruise upstream Lesan River by motor-canoe for about two hours to the limestone forest, during the sail you can enjoy the forest view at the river banks, the birds, and other creatures along the way, we will pass “Dog stone” to end up at an old Dayak Grave in the forest, Lunch en route, short trek in the limestone forest before we head back to Lesan Dayak village, for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: LESAN DAYAK, MUARA WAHAU (BLD)
Simple breakfast at Local house, a morning forest trek, before we return our way by jeep, over the muddy rain forest path for about 1 hour, to connect the main road which will bring us in about three hours to Muara Wahau village, for overnight at Guesthouse.
Day 14: MUARA WAHAU, WEHEA RAIN FOREST TREK (BLD)
After Breakfast, we leave to Long Segah by canoe to the harbor of Muara Wahau, a Short sight seeing at the village, before we visit the Tropical Forest of 38.000 Hectares Wehea Tropical Virgin Rain Forest of the Dayak Wehea and Dayak Bahau tribe at Muara Wahau area, the diversity of flora and fauna with 60 kinds of tropical rain forest trees, and more then 100 wildlife species can be found here, as orangutans, deer, and many kinds of birds. Lunch en-route, overnight at Jungle Lodge.
Day 15-16: WEHEA JUNGLE TREK (BLD)
After Breakfast full day explore the dense jungle and wildlife in all the diversity of Wehea rain forest, to get a glance of Borneo's ecologic wealth, even night jungle treks can be done. overnight at Wehea Jungle Lodge, for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 17: WEHEA, KEDANG KEPALA RIVER, LONG NORAN (BL)
Breakfast early morning, before we depart from Wehea forest to the harbor of Kedang Kepala River, sail by canoe the River to Long Noran Dayak Kenyah village, to meet the traditional life of the Dayak tribe by dry rise field plantations, overnight at Local house or Nearby Guesthouse.
Day 18: LONG NORAN, MUARA KAMAN, MAHAKAM RIVER (BLD)
Breakfast at Local house/Guesthouse, afterwards by car transfer for about 5 hours from Long Noran to Muara Kaman, passing production forest, arrived at Muara Kaman, Lunch at Houseboat, which will cruise upstream to Muara Muntai, Dinner and overnight on board of the houseboat
Day 19: MUARA MUNTAI, MANCONG, TANJUNG ISUY, DOWN STREAM (BLD)
Short sight seeing at Muara Muntai Wooden village, then crossing Jempang Lake by motor canoe to Mancong. During the cruise you could see Rain forest and wildlife at Ohong creek like monkey’s and birds, Upon arrival at Mancong, welcomed with a traditional ceremony by the Dayaq Benuaq, one of the Oldest Dayak Longhouse of East Kalimantan can be found here, Late afternoon by motor canoe to Tanjung Isuy for sightseeing and continue to Houseboat for dinner and overnight. Houseboat will cruise downstream to Tenggarong and Samarinda.
Day 20: TENGGARONG, BALIKPAPAN (B)
Arrive at Tenggarong, visiting the former palace of Sultan Kutai Kertanegara. Where you will see the Sultan's impressive collection of heirlooms, ceramics, Dayak's art and culture items, until departure transfer to Balikpapan airport for your onward flight to your next destination.
